On the 8th Feb 2019, iCare Education and Charity Foundation visited Chiraa R/C Primary and JHS. The school was established between 1961-1967 by Saint Francis Xavier Missions and under the supervision of Sunyani West Education District.
The iCare organization took the initiative to inaugurate Food and Nutrition Project this year. An event to share nutritional knowledge and education on the need for balanced diet among children.
Mr Ayabila Edward from the Sunyani general hospital honoured our invitation and led the lecture on balance diet. He also enlightened students, parents and community leaders on nutritional benefits and classification of foods nutrients.
Present at the program was Mr. Olo Christopher – Headmaster of Chiraa R/C Primary and JHS school, Mrs. Amoah Janet – Primary Head, Mr Daniel Fayoje – Community leader and Mr Isaac Amankwah A – Assembly member.
302 pupils from the primary and 234 from the JHS took part in this exercise. Students were served ●vegetable rice with chicken/egg/fish and sausage●Banku and okro stew with smoked salmon and fried fish●Rice and beans (waakye) with egg/chicken and sausage●Yam and plantain (ampesie) with palava sauce and garden eggs.
Warm sobolo made with pineapple, ginger and prekes3 was served.
